Working with FCP 5.1.4

Need to work with some media, and it came to me on an External Hardrive in .m2ts code. I don't know where or how it was shot. I just need to splice it in a little corporate gig. i tried to import it, no luck!

I work on an apple and I read these files can only be seen through Windows XP on my mac. Is this true? there's got to be another way???

Doubtful- you really need to figure out what camera was used otherwise we can't suggest much here.

Probably any Windows editor will open M2T or M2TS files. Those are MPEG-2 Transport Streams.

It's possible they're captured HDV files, or it's possible that they're AVC-HD files.

they doen't know exactly, but appaerently the camera used was one of those new Sony Hardrive HD consumer cameras.

Help any???

Mpeg streamclip works for me. Just open it up and export to quicktime. What happens when you tried using that?

I downloaded MPEG Streamclip 1.9.

I opened the application then in MPEG Streamclip i went to the menu bar> File> Open Files> External HardDrive> the "m2ts file." but i noticed that the file was "gray" in color and it didn't give me the ablility to "open" the file. So i changed setting of open "Video files" to "all files". that gave me the ablilty to "open". The file was no longer gray in color, it opened...it opened something.... but when i tried to convert it to a quicktime file from the MPEG Streamclip it gave me a mesage: "Error: can't find the first video frame"

thanks Gents!!!

got the windows xp running on the apple... mpeg streamclip to create usable media for FCP!

Guess i'm just going to have to bill'em for my time!

thanks again
