Hello,
I am not so familiar with this subject as I have an HVX myself and never used an HDV camera. A friend used a HD-Recorder (I think it was a sony product) to record his HDV footage. The HD-Recorder produces files with an .m2t extension. He wants to edit in Final Cut but the file format (or container) is not supported. After searching the internet I found out that you have to use streamclip to convert the files.
The problem is just that it takes very long to convert the files into a format that is supported by FCP even on a very fast machine. It's not even 1:1 like when I just import the footage from a tape. Am I doing something wrong? If not, what's the whole point in shooting directly to a HD when it takes longer to convert the files than to just import them from a tape?
Do you know any product (HD-Recorder) that can record HDV in a format that is supported by FCP without needing any conversion?
Sorry for all these questions. Any input is appreciated...
Thanx
