M2 w/ Canon eos Lenses

I am considering the m2 but a bit confused.

Most of the feedback that I am seeing people seem to be using Nikon Lenses... odd because Canon Glass is great. is this because there are more Nikon users out there or because the Nikon lenses work better?

I have some professional Canon EOS Zoom Lenses that I would love to put into use(70 - 210 @f2.8 and a 20- 35 @2.8 )

Will the Canon m2 work as well with these lenses?

what focal length will I have to use on these lenses? should I invest in Arri primes ( wet dream!)

The footage I have seen on this site from the HVX and the m2 is too dreamy to not make some sort of investment!!

cheers

i have a m2 with eos mount and i love it. most people have nikon mounts because nikon lenses have manual apetures. canon lenses stay wide open inless u put them on a canon slr and hold down the aperture preview button, (at least thats what im told works) Most people who are not photographers automatically buy nikon.

u can use any focal lengh on the adapter but id u go wider than 20 or 28 u will have some vignetting.

if u can afford arri prime get them! and a couple for me too.

hmmmm

hmmmm

Does thst mean I am stuck with 2.8?
Do you use the follow focus?
what lenses do you use?

thanks!!!

I have a full set of Canon FD's that I use with the Brevis35. The Canons are great lenses whos iris work manually. I actually prefer them to the Nikons. I also prefer their mounting system better as well.

The Canons work great - but if you are using the FD mount on the M2 then try and get the older FL lenses which enable you to have full aperture control of the lens without any "quick fixes" to overcome the FD connection issues.

If you use the FDs, you're stuck with max aperture unless you do the workaround (which is not my first choice for the FDs I have). I have no idea whatsoever about the EOS mount.

I shot a large part of a recent doc and my DramaFest entry with a Canon FL55mm f1.2 and the shallow depth of field is amazing even at f1.4 - with tons of light coming though.

For some reason the FL lenses aren't as common on the market as they used to be - maybe it's because they're older - who knows.

And personally, based on experience I wouldn't use any zoom lenses - stick to fixed focal lengths. Just a suggestion.

canon FD is very different than EOS.
Do u have a canon slr? if not yes, your stuck

i dont have a follow focus but plan to get one in the future. I have got used to manually focusing but for more exact focusing u would need a FF.

i use zeiss (contax) lenses. I will be renting a 17-55 IS canon lense for a job and will test.

Heres a link to a thread that has the aperture trick

hope this helps
