M2 Redrock Question

I find my F1.2 stopped down a bit is my sharpest lens. The 50mm F1.4 SSC is a monster too. (actually jack you have that in the mini Pelican case).
 
Are these better lenses than Nikon ones?
Canon FD Manual Focus f 2.0
24mm, 35mm, 50mm, 85mm, 100mm
They sell them for $4000
 
that's 800 per lens. wow. pretty steep if you ask me. and I'm not sure if they are better than the Nikon one, but I'm not sure about that.
for that kind of money why not the carls zeiss nikon mount ones. I think they say those are awesome. though I think they only have 2.
 
not better. theres no real "better" in that range of lenses.

its liek the XL2/DVX argument. they are about the same, but people willl fight about it till the cows come home....

There are at least four out now. I have the 50mm, 25mm, and 85mm. There is also a 35mm which I didn't get. Those lenses sure burned a hole in pocket but I must say they are of solid, quality build. I have yet to use em on my Brevis (which I should receive soon) but Phil Bloom, who most of you know from the shootout, has the ZF's and has said some good things about em... not to mention shot some nice footage. I think some his HD200 + adapter clips on his website are using Zeiss ZF primes.

By the way, I received an email from a japanese distributer letting me know that the makro 2/100mm will be available around April. I would assume that the 2/50mm makro would be released at the same time.

I probably wont be dishing out the dough for the makro's, but if your wallet is thick, give it a month and all 6 zf's should be available.

I am heading for the same lens choice as soon as I can order my RedRock M2 Adapter!

I am using a 50mm 1.8. I have a question, how do you guys get extreme closeups with it? I appear to be stuck at a distance of about 4 -5 feet (or so) anything closer and I cannot focus at all. Is this a result of the lens or the HVX/M2 combo? (i am force to change to a different lens everytime I want a closeup shot)
