I was curious what everyone's experiences were with this. Has anybody noticed that the motion of a moving GG is transferred to the cam. In other words, if you put you hand on the cam, can you tell that the motor is running?
i can feel the motor running when i put my hand on my adapter, (M2) or on the rails, but i do not see it in post or on either HDTV i have, i monitor at my house on a 50inch and a 26 inch.
You can indeed feel the very minor vibration through the camera when mounted on the rails but it has no adverse impact on the picture and is not visually noticeable.
The sound is, however, apparent if you use the microphone mounted to the camera as it seems perfectly positioned to pick up the "thrumming" of the M2. Accordingly, if shooting with sound I use a boom and have never picked up the sound of the motor that way.
i dont hear my M2, but i would think with a good shockmount on the camera you wont have any hummm at all, i havnt shot anything requiring the audio from the built in mic yet though
Thanks for the info all. I have been making some adjustments on my DIY adapter to isolate the vibration enough so that it isn't felt at all on the cam. I made some great progress tonight, but I can still feel a slight vibe on the DVX mic and some at the viewfinder. None on the DVX body itself though. Have any of you noticed any vibration in these specific areas?
