M2 Image Flip Solutions and Workflow

I know this information is out there somewhere, but I'm having a problem finding it.

What have you found to be the ideal solutions to the M2 image flip issue?

What monitors have image flipping capability.

What is the procedure to get the viewfinder to flip the image?

What large monitors have image flip capability, or is there another solution for this?

I know CineForm has a nice flip switch in Connect HD. Is there something similar for FCP?

They all do when you turn them over . . . a little humor but accurate none the less.

The problem (regarding while recording as opposed to your post question) is that you need to flip AND "flop" your frame so that the original right side in on the right instead of reversed (after the flip).

I don't know of any on-board monitor that will do that (if there is I'm sure someone will chime in). Get a Marshall 7", the "HD" capable one . . . at least this way (even though the right will be on the left) you will be able to compose your shot, manage headspace, and focus.

Hope this helps.

I assume you mean the Marshall V-R70P-HDA HD/SD 1.2 TFT-MegapixelT Monitor w/ Analog InputsWhich runs about $1250?

I do (although I paid a hundred more for mine).

A Tablet pc ($800 on ebay) with DV rack software mounted onto the m2's rods (or a mini mount arm) would produce not only a touch screen interactive monitor with a screen that can flip anywich way you want, it also (depending on the hard drive space) gives you the possibility of recording straight to the tablet like a firestore. Should only add about 4-5 more pounds with a 14inch viewing space.
Just seems like a good idea, i could be wrong.

Not all monitors can handle being flipped. Some will display a distorted image because the tube's guns will be misaligned.

Hi JF,

We will have a software product for you in the near future that will do the flip you are looking for. It will only work on a Mac, and we will be revealing the website for our product very soon. As far as cost it will be around 1/10th the cost of that Marshal monitor.
