more than likely. Im using redrock rails on my SG, so I'd imagine the opposite would hold true. Both are 85mm to center lens on the mount but theres more to factor in when you consider the units flipped. My redrock measures lower overall height with the flip (since their flip is smaller), than the SG and its flip so this affects the offset. I prefer Zoffset from zacuto or mounting the rods upside down on the cheese plate, allowing great offset with the addition of shims. Only problem with that setup is you need to add a block or another rail system underneath because your rods are now in the way of the tripod mounting plate. I use the redrock with a chrosziel base underneath and it works great. Keeps the offset down to only a couple of small 1/8 and 1/4 pieces. I'm sure the same can be done with the SG system if you have a spare manfrotto dove tail system or something along those lines.
Yes. The M2 will work with all rods. I used mine with my Zacuto rails. Here's a good rule of thumb. Mostly everything that's made nowadays for indies (rods, DOFAs, matteboxes) are all using the 15mm rod standard with 60mm standard spacing. It never hurts to ask though!
I think what he was referring to was whether or not the rod support system itself can work with the M2, not necessarily the rod diameter, which in that case, not all rod support systems will work with the SG. I believe the cavision doesn't offer enough offset unless you add a manfrotto release to the top of it.
Possibly true, but he is talking about the Redrockmicro M2 with other rod support systems. I can say that as long it is a standard offset of 60mm like Zacuto's for instance, it should work. What specific companies are you looking at for this solution tslesicki?
