M KNIGHT's The Happening

I like the guy too. The trailer makes it look action packed but his trailers usually do.

People need to go into his films not expecting action and horror. I think if more people did this he would be more liked.

When is this coming out? (in the us?)

His movies are never quite what they seem...(this is, IMHO, very good)

Definetly on my "must see" list.

The trailer doesn't look like much but with M. Knight there's a chance the movie could be great.

Is this shot on digital?

I'm a sucker for this kind of story as well but I have to say that this trailer didn't really do it for me. I will be waiting to see more though...
I hope this turns out well.

Despite what many others say, I am ALWAYS intrigued by M. Night....The Village as well as Lady In The Water may not have been the strongest or most memorable stories but he does a really good job of bringing whatever story he wants to tell on the screen.

I read the M. Knight bashing thread for TLITW...I wasn't buying into it. The story wasn't ultimately great but man, I love the way he tells a story. He pulls me in every time.

I'll definitely be looking forward to seeing this. Now if we could just tone down his ego a bit....

PS Mark Wahlberg will never be confused with Brando but his acting in this trailer is some of the worst of his I've seen.....

i'm still so p*&!ed off about the village still that i wont pay for another one of his movies in the theater.

unbreakable was his peak... great flick.

I like Wahlberg but one of the first things I notice from the preview was his acting in this looks pretty terrible. Wonder what's up there?

His movies no longer hold the same value they once did with Sixth Sense Unbreakable and Signs because the first two acts never mean anything to me. It always feels like he rushes through anything that just might develop the character he is just setting us up for the big shock.

Not a big fan...

The clip looks like your average apocalyptic film you've seen over and over again. I think M. Night. Shalalala is a VERY talented director even when he is shooting crap scripts...sadly it seems to be all he does lately.
I can't stand Marky Mark though. I think he is extremely overrated and that the fact that he was nominated for an Oscar proves that nobody in the Academy is EVER sober.
On the other hand I really like Leguizamo and I think he is very underrated.
I'll watch this film nevertheless like I do all other M. Night's films, waiting for the day he'll put is great skills to good use.

This script was almost grounded last year after the disasterious LITW. What ever studio put money in to this must have forgot.

This debate comes up every time M makes a new film; complaints about Signs (which I thought was brialliantly told from the perspective of the isolated family). Whereas I like Signs best, others seem to fall into either the 6thS or Unbreakable camp.

The Village however, was panned; I liked it. Loved the cast, loved the story even if he screwed up the ending with exposition (yes, M, we get it without the explantion).

Lady in the Water I tried to enjoy, but didn't really get it. Wonderfully shot and acted, but the story didn't make sense to me.

Still, I think M is one of the few directors who really gets it, the langauge. He seems to really grasp visual storytelling.

I think he best move (if I was his agent) would be to direct someone elses property as well as giving the cameos a rest. Tarantino can get away with it purely on his films style and subject matter; I almost expect Quentin to pop up because he's peculiar and quirky and tends to fit into the storylines someway, but Night (Thanks Zak) detracts from the story when he shows up.

Anyways

There aren't too many gifted filmmakers working in HoWood right now, but I think M is one them.
