Okay, I know I'm going to get flamed for this, but...

I think that's a good thing. I sure wish he'd make movies from the heart, rather than from the toybox or the marketing perspective or whatever. If there is genius within him (and Star Wars:ANH is proof that there was, and may still be) then that's where he'll find it, not in trying to pander to the market. I for one would be more interested in seeing what he comes up with now.

I agree. At this point there's no way of knowing if he blew his writing/directing creativity in the original Star Wars film or not It's the only film that he's done that I really like. I enjoy the rest of the original trilogy, but IIRC, he didn't do the screenplay or direct either of those. Some people only get one REALLY good idea.

However, he is a good producer of other people's stuff. Raiders is a good example of that.

You are correct. I was posting at light speed (without thinking); it's just the NEW ones are such a let down. Yes, THX and AG are great films.

I dont give LUCAS too much credit for RAIDERS (The only good one in the series). He created with Steve the concept and story, but Steve directed and Kasdan wrote it.

This I know (technically); but Kerschner and Marquand had strings strung up their 'yahoos' while directing it. More so than the Poltergeist Speilberg/Hooper relationship.

I also loved Young Indy now that I think about it; hard to believe that never took off.

here's the real question. Does Lucas secretly think "****, if i hadn't tried to make the prequel trilogy and endlessy **** with my original movies the world would still think i'm a genius."?
Probably not. He probably opens another sack of oreo cookies and tries to figure out ways to put new, "better" CG cars into American Grafitti.

I agree with Barry Greens thoughts. When I read last year Lucas was doing the final Star Wars *his way* and it would be dark and piss people off, I thought "this could be cool" - Key word *could* - Time will tell ... :-/

I think he meant the SW "geeks" will find it too dark. You know, the guys in line for 45 days for tickets and Jar Jar binks bed sheets.  ::)
