LTM 300w Pepper

Does anyone know if the LTM 300w Pepper will accept the 420w lamps? I didn't think LTM made 300w Fresnel's, I've only seen the 100,200, 420 and up but I would up snatching up a 300w for a great price and was wondering if 300w is the max voltage of it. Thanks.

The 300 w is a workhorse. I use to use the 420w years ago, and they had a problem of overheating and the bulbs would burn out way too much. Not cool.

Really? Thats good to know, the price was steal so I picked up. The barn doors are alot more than I thought they'd be but I don't really need them yet.

Alright, well I had a couple CL-TB0650110 Tungsten 650w (110v) lamps laying around that I bought for using in a colortran 650 mini pro, but it seemed like the same socket as the LTM pepper. So I tried it out and seemed to work fine. I couldn't tell if I was only using it as 300w or the full 650w. But I thought it was interesting. Has anyone every something like this before? Does anyone know if there is a risk of burning out the socket? The light is really stable, no flicker, no smoke, nothing, with the 650w lamp is seemed fine.

I wouldn't do that. The socket and wiring might not be rated for that wattage and you could end up with a bad situation.

I agree with you but I didn't even think it would turn on. I just thought the results were interesting and that others would like to know.

If I remember right, the 300, 650 and maybe a few others all use the same base. Being a tungsten light it will turn on just fine and be using the bulbs rated power. As horse alluded to the cables, housing etc arent rated for that much heat/power so I'd avoid doing it.
