I am a tech head, and I can barely figure this one out.
Occasionally I render things, and then I tend to surf around the net as it is rendering.
I noticed that surfing was slow due to premiere running in the background. So I opened up the task manager, and I set it for a lower priority.
INSTANTLY - and I mean INSTANTLY it dropped 30 minutes for a render. This was weird.
The only reason I can think that this happened was becuase all other appilcations are requesting a normal priority for the CPU, so premiere has to wait in line.
But set it to a lower priority, and it still might get the required allocated memory, but it doesn't have to wait in line. It's kinda like the express line vs. the regular line at a grocery store: They are just as slow, but they don't have to ring up as many items.
I know this sounds crazy, so I was just wondering if anyone else has tried this. I am keeping a realtime clock to measure against what premiere is saying. Rightnow - it is saying 1 hour 10 minutes for the render to complete. So that means it shoudl be done by 6:34 P.M. CST. I am curious to see if tis happens.
BTW: this was done with PPro 1.5, on an AMD 2.1 GHz, with 1.5 Gb of Ram. Win XP.
If anyone has any thoughts, let me know. I don't know if it wil make a true difference or not. But I did find it curious.
