Where the hell does Lowel get the names for their lights?

Omni
Tota
Rifa

They have nothing to do with their purpose, and are all 4 letters long. Now that I own them, I can remember better. But still...

BTW- I just picked up a Rifa. Awesome design.

Re: Lowel Naming Conventions

They also make the Pro, V, Case-Lite, DP, Fren-L, Scandles, and a few others, so I don't think they're hung up on four letters... but I don't have any idea where they get the names from, other than CaseLite, which is because the light is the case, and Fren-L, which is their fresnel light.

Re: Lowel Naming Conventions

There's a certain weirdness about Lowel, that I can't quite put my finger on. Maybe, if L. Ron Hubbard had jumped from being a sci-fi writer to the lighting business, instead of starting a religion--it would have been a lot like Lowel. ;)

Re: Lowel Naming Conventions

HAHA. ;D

That's a good point Barry G. I was only away of the DP light, I didn't know about the others.

Re: Lowel Naming Conventions

Can't be any worse than teenies, mickies, midgets, tweenies, inbetweenies, babies, nooks, broads, inkies, mighties, seniors, juniors, tenors, etc.

Re: Lowel Naming Conventions

Well, I'm just guessing, but I would assume they did that so that they could trademark the names.

Awesome. Omni's are such great lights.

Re: Lowel Naming Conventions

i like the compact size of the omni's.
