So we have been working on this short, nothing major just something for fun, anyway we shot it in letterbox and now that we are in post the editor says that he only sees it as 4X3 no letter box at all…

Does any one have any suggestions??

Also… what are the best settings for shooting in low light… do you use more light and then iris down or use less lights just used in a better way??

I've also had this problem; shot a short in letterbox format (not squeezed - maybe I should've?) but when we're in post it comes out distorted 4:3. We're still trying to figure it out. Should I just shoot in squeeze mode to get that look?

As far as lighting goes, it depends on the look you're going for. The 100a isn't the best for low light and will get pretty noisy fast, so I tend to use a lot of lights (not "overlighting") and then iris down.

I tend to prefer squeeze mode... so I would say try that next time you shoot.

As for low light shoots.... I want to shoot a night sceen but the lighting has been a major problem for me is there a way to cheat and shoot durning the day? and if so how do I get it to look "dark" enough.

We are now in post and the shoot went well... Thanks for asking, It was a couple hot days but the home owners of the house we used were good sports, letting us turn off the ac, their fish tank... um... fans, lol and almost everything else in the house...

We did have to do a day for night shot... sort of... it was more a day for evening shot... since our zombie had to be off set and to work... so we worked with what we had...

And you? hopefully you were albe to get everything or at least most of what you wanted?

Yes. Use a single question mark; otherwise, you look hysterical. And this isn't anything to get hysterical about.

Seriously, though, letterbox footage IS 4:3, but with black bands on the top and bottom. There are only two things which would cause what you're describing -- you either shot in squeeze and thought it was letterbox, or their capture software sees the black bands and does a strecth of the footage automatically. There's no way it can go wrong inside the camera.

I knew it was not something with the camera but I did not know if anyone had this problem with editing software before... and if someone had, if they were able to fix it...
