Low cost, low profile fluidhead for Glidetrack Shooter SD

Hey peoples,

I just got the Glidetrack Shooter SD 0.5m slider/shoulder rig. I own a cheap Velbon photo tripod and head, that seems too beat up/falling apart - and fragile.

So I need a proper fluid head for pans, tilts, etc. It needs to fit on the glidetrack, have a long'ish handle, pan smootly, be able to be locked down, weighted tilt, and most importantl of all - it can't way too much and it must have a low profile (and preferably a smal/slim'ish base plate so I can comfortably go handheld without having the plate in the way). Since I'm putting it on the glidetrack, using a t2i with battery pack underneath, and as soon as i get one - using an LCDVF - when it's on the shoulder, the head can't be too tall, or else I'll have to stretch my neck in order to look through the viewfinder..Already now just mounting the camera directly on the glidetrack, I only need a couple inches in height (I know this is impossible, but I need something as low as possible)

Now since I wanna be portable with this setup, and keep cost down - I'll try and manage with the velobon tripod for fixed tripod shots, and wait with buying legs for this fluid head, till I get more dough to buy some good legs for it.

Which ones would you guys recommend? I've been looking at and the china made 717ah head, which is 4.5 inches - waay too much, the Manfrotto 701which is is 3.74 inches - better, but still too tall I think. Then there's the Gitzo G2180 which is 3.3 inches - better..but I dunno if this is a good head? I'd really like some suggestions, perhaps there's something out there that's better/lower height etc. I don't wanna compromise too much, but if the head is too tall it's a no go in terms of having it on the shoulder, and then I gotta figure out something like a lot of quick release plates, to un-attatch the head when going on the shoulder, and vice versa - not ideal..

Advice, tips, people with hands on experience with this stuff - please chime in
