Low angle mount

I was wondering if anyone has every tried to make some sort of mount that would allow you to get low angle shots which could be used walking down the street or maybe riding on the back of an ATV or something like that. I don't think the handle is strong enough to use one of those super clamps with but if you could, all you would need is some sort of pole to mount to the clamp that you would hold and allow the camera to hang close to the ground.

I saw someone at my former job take a HOE from his garden and placed the camera on the flat bottom part and secured it and he used it on a motorcycle shoot and got some amazing looking shots. Just wondering if anyone has done anything similiar to that.

In the industry, you would use a "low mode" bracket for a steadicam.

In the ultra low budget world, you could turn the camera upside down on a tripod and hold it by the bottom of the tripod legs and flip it in post.

I have been making up a rig like the one pictured for for a number of people for the past couple of months and it does a pretty good job with low angle shooting. It isn't as good as the low mode bracket on my camera stabilizer but for simple things it is returns very similar shots.

hey Bob,
why not provide a thead mount for you to attach a ball head with a quick release plate. this way you can turn the camera in any angle.
sure, a little more expensive, but more flexible.
any pictures??

Sinarch, the rig does mount up with a quick release plate as for using a ball head I did use one on the first prototype but whenever we tilted the camera side to side it was tough to operate smoothly. Good thought though. I am terrible about taking pictures but I'll snap a few tomorrow morning and post them.

Bob,

What the hell?
I slave over a hot computer all day looking for sites on LED's and your out fooling around with some low slung hussy?
You said it would be two weeks and you would have somethig to show, TWO WEEKS not two months Bob.
Thats it! I'm leaving you.

Hiya Chuck ;)

Good to see you away from the HBS board. Don't fret about the LED system. It is still in the hopper. I guess I shouldn't have started another company before I finished all my projects. Kidding aside, I am waiting on some custom multi die LED wafers that have RGB and 5600k white elements all together. Those paired up with some 8bit digital pots and a serial controller is going to be fabulous. As always I'll post when I get something finished.
