I was talking to a guy Best Buy a few years ago and he was telling me about this guy that had bought 4 monitors and then brought them back to return them, the seal on the box was still there so everything was good... when they were moving the boxes later, one of them sounded weird so they opened them and found he had opened the box from the bottom and replaced the monitors with cinder blocks... too bad he payed with a credit card... So the point of the story is that is now their policy to open every return regardless, obviously someone had returned the camera/pasta sauce and got away scott free, because someone didnt think to check it.... I had always heard bad things about Sony customer service, but this is cool the are standing behind it....
You do have to understand why Best Buy might be reluctant to issue a refund, though.

Always examine the box before you buy it.
I purchased a gs300 from BB over the summer that had been resealed. The salesperson handled the box all the way to the register and into a bag. I didn't notice until I got home. I never opened it and took it back the next morning. They exchanged it, but not before giving me some strange looks.
