Loud popping sound when Capture Now

Everytime I click the Capture Now button my ingest stalls for a half a second or so then I hear a series of pops coming from my speaker monitors. I have no idea what is causing these pops. I have FCP on my Macbook Pro laptop and it does NOT do that but I am experiencing these pops on my Powermac G5. I am using the latest version of FCP too.

Any ideas on what is causing this or how I can remedy this?

The pops are NOT showing up on any ingested footage, I just hear them when I click the Capture Now button.

thnx!

What are you capturing from? FW Deck? I/O Box?
Capturing to an internal drive? What kind of footage are you capturing?

I had this happen to me a few times with a DVCProHD Deck FW in to a G5. I figured the audio monitoring was always just pushing the machine a bit too far with regards to its ability to buffer real time.

If it isn't affecting your footage, then I wouldn't worry too much about it. See if you can shut down other tasks that maybe preoccupying the machine while you capture, and see if you can prevent bottlenecking of data by making sure the scratch disks are fast enough, etc etc.

I use a Sony GVD-1000 to ingest footage with. Although its not technically a deck, I use it as a deck rather than using my camera. Yep the drive is an internal drive and I am capturing Standard Def 24p video. I have been considering upgrading my internal FCP dedicated drive to a terabyte drive.
