loud bands in small spaces

I want to shoot more bands in small spaces like this one:

I did this like 3 days after I got my dvx100b so I didn't have a mic yet and there was no board feed available.

I was thinking the Oktava m12 with the -10db cap might help. Do you guys have any suggestions for mics and/or recording options.

thanks 256,

You have the right idea with the -10db pad. Your biggest concern with recording directly to a DVX100 is overloading the front-end A/D on the preamps. Unfortunately, it's fairly easy to do and no amount of adjustment on the camera itself will save you. The only way to avoid it is to control the level into the DVX. I do more jazz and brass and a -10db pad has been sufficient when I've recorded directly to my DVX. Your situation may be louder. Normally I use a mixer in between.
