Lost Season 3

SPOILER KINDA

What the hell is the significance of his name being Ben?
Not too huge, but I think they were/are married....?

At the beginning of the episode, one of the guests at the book club lambasts Juliet for picking a book that "Ben" would never have picked. Just a guess.

SPOILER

Is it me or does it seem unusual how they are supposed to only be an hour running distance away from the plane crash. Unless the "line" the others told them not to cross was coming up on their little village. But, still, if any of the survivors have traveled at all, which it seems like they have, they would have ran into the village.

The show got dumb last season. It's made all the same mistakes Twin Peaks made IMO: stories that take too long to go anywhere, then aren't very interesting when they get there...

My wife and I have watched the first two episodes of this season and decided that's it. We really just don't care what happens, why they're there, who "the others" are, any of it. It had a really good premise in its first season and it seemed more supernatural/sci-fi esque to me (like no one mentions the black smoke, the polar bear, or the "monster" that ate the captain...) and now its just....oh look, another hatch....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz wake me for the series finale and I might be tempted to watch what stupidity the writers came up with to explain it all.

All in all, a typical J.J. Abrams project: slick, good premise, crappy execution.

I will miss Freckles though. But oh well.

I thought last season was good, but it sure is looking downhill all of a sudden. That last episode had to be one of the worst episodes of any show I've seen in awhile. 15 minutes were dedicated to Sawyer and what's her name IN A FIELD! What?? And then they pull what's becoming a Lost Classic Move: Rehash the exact same flashback as before - the whole Korean chick's storyline. It wasn't even interesting the first time. I personally think they screwed up when they turned Locke into a freaking PANSY-BOY. He was the coolest most badass character on TV! And then they turned him into a PANSY-BOY. Smart move.

So yeah, the last episode and a half have been terrible. They're going to need to pull something out of a hat. Fast. Even the die-hard Lost fans are crying foul. I guess this is where Alias started going off track too, and it makes sense, since when you pitch a TV show, you really only have to pitch the first two seasons. If it's still on after that, it's been on longer than anyone thought it would be, so who cares what happens in the third season. Look at Prison Break, scrambling to develop some semblance of a storyling in its second season. Its title doesn't even have anything to do with its story anymore. What in the world is it going to do for its third??

I could go on, but there were a few moments in the first and second seasons where things were looking stupid, and they came back with some good episodes. I hope they do it again, cause the idea for the show is awesome.

Question about the plane crash:

If you remember, in the beginning of Lost, you're on a beach (the island's beach), and then these huge chunks of plane go flying AT the beach (towards it - towards us). But in this episode, the plane that they saw destruct over the island was *already* flying over the island. So if it fell apart, the wreckage wouldn't fly towards the beach. If anything it would fly away from the beach. Or if it hit the beach, it would hit it from the jungle side. So what does that mean? Is there a second island?

Just wanted to give myself some points for GETTING THIS RIGHT! WOO-HOOOOO!!!
