Lost Season 3

Tonight, it's back.

I didn't really watch the first or second season religiously, and I normally talk right through them. I didn't see what everyone was drooling over... until the last 20 seconds of the 2nd season finale.

What are your predictions for this season?

Are you gonna tune in tonight?

EDIT:

Oops! Should this be in the film discussion thread?

Yea, my wife and I are hooked. Other than Lost I don't watch TV. I thought tonight was just a recap of the last two seasons... no?

The recap was last week.

Oh, only one more hour until sweet release. Very exciting.

It was bad ass! I won't say more, but I will move this to the film discussion area (film, TV, same difference in this day and age)

wow, what a bizzare direction it took. Honestley I was freaking out at the end of hte beginning scene. the whole sawyer situtation is awesome as well...as I had a friend who was talking to me about how for her classes she has to do that exact same thing with rats and what not.

Well, it's taken a radical turn from what it was in the first season- and it can never go back. But I do enjoy where it's headed.

SPOILERS:

I hope next weeks episode shows a whole lot more about what's going on with the other people on the island. I'm realy curious about Locke and Echo, as well as Sayid and company. I'm also hoping to get a glimpse of Desmond's girlfriend.

This show is just so good. It always defies expectations. It would be so easy to go a different more predictable way (take Heroes for example, which takes every predictable choice possible). But Lost keeps you guessing. I do not have the slightest idea what's going to happen next and I'm endlessly intrigued by what they come up with.

p.s. Golden Boy J.J. Abrahms finally seems to have messed up with that piece of crap "Six Degrees". Poor J.J.

SPOILER TALK

well his last name is Dover, and the whole storyline of the others is that they're a joke! LOL....

i liked when Sawyer figured out the contraption in his cage, and Zeke said it only took the bears 2 hrs. that was good.

also, why did the others dress a tattered and stuff if they had clothes and such? to look like they've been there longer? Anyone catch the title of the Stephen King book they were reading? my dad was talking so i didnt hear it... liked Jack's backstory... i can't wait to see why the others were there to begin with

I think their hope was that they wouldn't have to deal with them, and they presented themselves as savages, hoping the plane victims would leave them alone. At least I believe that's the logic. I don't know if that actually works if scrutinized. They knew they were going to have to deal with them sooner or later. But it works enough to not mull over it.

I'm wondering what was up with the significance of his name as well. I believe Lost has taken a little too much liberty with its end-of-episode cliffhangers. They know that Lost fans will assume the ending is gonna be important, so now all they have to do is pull a close up, add some freaky music, and that's supposed to be sufficient, even if it means absolutely nothing. Someone could pull out a twix bar, hold it up to another character, and say something like "It's time to do what we came here for", and as long as there was that freaky music and a close up, Lost nerds would be like "OH MY GOD!! WHAT WAS UP WITH THE TWIX BAR???!"

Has anybody been watching Jericho?? That show is good!

Lots of references to other works last night.

Jack in the glass cage -- Star Trek, "The Cage." Acts the same as Christopher Pike, and when the girl tries to sneak in while he's asleep, he grabs her.

Sawyer being dragged back to his own cage -- the music resembled "Planet of the Apes," as did the camera work and editing.

Question about the plane crash:

If you remember, in the beginning of Lost, you're on a beach (the island's beach), and then these huge chunks of plane go flying AT the beach (towards it - towards us). But in this episode, the plane that they saw destruct over the island was *already* flying over the island. So if it fell apart, the wreckage wouldn't fly towards the beach. If anything it would fly away from the beach. Or if it hit the beach, it would hit it from the jungle side. So what does that mean? Is there a second island?

Good point, but islands aren't always perfectly round. Curved shorelines... etc.. or yea other islands.

Overall, I though it was a great, intriguing, start.... But, they could have at least given us two hours for the premiere and explain what happend to Locke, Desmond, Sayid, etc in the same episode.

It felt weird just starting the season with those 3 characters, even though it was a great hour of television.

And now with "the others" such prominent characters, it seems as though its getting too big a cast of characters... Hopefully the can pull it off with the storylines.

Coffee, www.abc.com should have it.

I don't think that the characters are going to be too many because other people will be minimized, plus remember we get a little 8 episode season and then a 2 month break and then we get the last 16 all together.

You can download or watch at abc.com or it should be on iTunes in the next 2 weeks.
