Lost Power cord + Cleaning up used dvx100a

Debaser

Due to my 'Student' budget i was unable to buy i brand new dvx. But i've just brought a second hand dvx100a with 37 hours on the head.

Its in rather nice condition except for a few light scuffs and an annoying bit of paint off the lens hood (pictue attatched)

What the best way to clean the body of the camera, anyway to remove 'light' marks/scracthes?

Also is there anything i should check, to make sure everything is well. Before i shoot a rather inportant thing in a couple of days (cant afford panasonic service)

Also when i got it, it came with the charger that the battery sits in and a cord that runs into the wall but there is noway to connect the camera straight into the wall...am i missing something. if so where could i obtain this part?

Thankyou for your help

The part you're missing attaches to the charger, then clips onto the DVX where the batteries go. There is also a small hole that will accept a 7.9v input from any adapter. You can find one of these at Walmart for pretty cheap.

As far as the scratches go...I would remove the lens hood. Remove the 4 screws and the scratched piece, and give it a few light coats of some flat black plastic spray paint. Should look good as new

Hi thankyou for taking the time to reply.

just still a bit confused about the charger. Should i try and get the real panasonic part..

or try and 7.9 adaptor (can someone show me a picture of one of these, a bit confused)

Also after buying a second hand camera should i 'reset to factory settings'?

Here is a link to a generic ac adapter that will work with your camera. You could look for the original Panasonic Part (VEK8722).

I purchased a used DVX100a, I reset the scene files, then I went through all the menus and checked the different settings. This allowed me to learn what each menu function did and adjust each to my preference. I've never used the master reset button.

Hope this helps.

Just to let everyone know, the above mentioned dc adapter does NOT work with a dvx100a. I just purchased one from Wal Mart and to my surprise it did not work. The jacks for on the Powerline unit are slightly longer than the 7.9 slot on the back of the dvx. This causes the dc adapter to slightly hang out. Also on that Powerline unit it only comes in intervals of 7 or 12 volts...not sure if that could be the reason why it wasn't powering up the dvx (although i would have thought giving it 12 volts might work - not an electrician) So I'd just suggest buying the replacement part straight from Panny if you can.
