Lost in Translation

I really like it, too. Philip K. Dick. At the risk of upsetting Hudson's day, I'll say I'm not much of Tom Cruise fan, though he is worlds better than Costner. Actually, Cruise is at least entertaining even if he seldom disappears into his roles.

I just have no respect for Mr. Vitametavegemin. After his Matt Lauer and Brooke Shields exchanges it cemented for me that yes, I really don't like him and I think he's a jack ass. But I'm not much into him as an actor, and never was. I just never thought he was that good. He's not horrible by any stretch, but when I think actor's actors, Mr. Vegemin is nowhere to be found.

Snake rules (PArt 2 sucked so bad though)

The Thing was epic!
The Russell roles in the Carpenter films were great, but I love him in:

-Tequila Sunrise (Great chemistry between himself & Gibson)

-Backdraft (His true-blue integrity really shines through)

-Tombstone ("You tell 'em I'm coming! And Hell's coming with me...")

-Stargate (still one of my favorite Emmerich/Devlin collaborations)

-Breakdown (he turned in a strong performance in this underrated gem)

-Vanilla Sky (I absolutely adored the Gregory Peck/To Kill a Mockingbird device used to justify his character's creation)

Edit: Looks like I was slow on the trigger...yuz are discussing the other Wyatt Earp now (Costner)

of all the movies on your Russell list Chad, Tombstone is my favorite behind The Thing and Escape from NY for Russell movies. I really loved both Russell and Kilmer (I'm your huckleberry...) in Tombstone. Whenever it comes on cable I get sucked into it... Backdraft is also one of my favorites of his and Ron Howard's as well.

I wanted to like Breakdown so much, it was a great premise and starts off great....
But, it got so far fetched and perposterous, I was laughing at the screen.

(And no man would ever let there wife take a ride with a trucker/stranger.)

His Tombstone role was Outfuckingstanding. Breakdown was great, too. And don't forget what a great sense of comedy the man has. Used Cars and Captain Ron. (Chad, I know you're not big on Captain Ron but it made me LMAO.)

Captain Ron was pretty fun for what it was. I haven't seen Used Cars in awhile.

I thought he was funny in, even though it wasn't a strict comedy, Big Trouble in Little China.

I agree. He was effective in all his comedic roles (even the oft-forgotten Overboard and The Best of Times)...
but the Jack Burton character ironically takes the funny cake IMHO.

Of course...

Just making a segway, boss! (in my best Cool Hand Luke chain gang voice)

I have mixed feelings. I don't hate Pitt, but I'm not a huge fan either. I think he has the right look for it, but I would have maybe gone a little younger than Pitt.

I detest Brad Pitt

Why this guy is famous or considered even a good actor is beyond me. One of the more overrated talents in Hollywood EVER

IMO

Edit

It's not that he can't act; I liked him in Se7en for example it is just this LARGER THAN LIFE Brad Pitt I am missing

Kalifornia - he defined trailer trash and
12 Monkeys - ditto with the crazy guy.

Let me modify my previous post...MY WIFE says its the dimples. I think he's funny looking with bad skin. But when he plays the bad boy, those women folk swoon.

I remember when Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman came to Phantom a lot of us, including the women had three reactions:

1) Man he's a little guy!
2) Man he has bad skin and buck teeth.
3) Man she's so freaking hot!!!
