Folks. I am still using FCP7. Working on a project shot on C100 (in camera, not via Ninja/external recorder). Transcoded to Prores in FCP via log and transfer. I am noticing that an exported quicktime movie using the same settings as the sequence is slightly soft compared to how it looks in the FCP viewers. I compare the same frame in the timeline and in the exported file side by side and see the difference. Prores 4444 yields better results but still slightly softer. Even the uncompressed codec is slightly soft.
I have worked with C100 avchd/prores footage before and never noticed this...maybe I just wasn't looking for it.
Is this the norm? Am I missing something?
