Loss of Resolution with " camcorder deck " ?

Please help out - trying to determine if need to buy an item or not - When using a Panasonic PV - 120 (small consumer camcorder) as a transfer deck to computer's hard drive, is there a loss in resolution as opposed to using a Panasonic AG-DV2500?
Obviously I would prefer to use the small camcorder I allready have, but not at the risk of resolution loss.

Is this a concern?

It's not a concern at all. Think of it as a normal file transfer. It's just 1s and 0s, so there will be no loss of quality when using another camera as a deck.

Thanks HorseFilms, the reason I asked (and I could have said this earlier ;-) is that when you read the specs on Panasonics AG-DV2500, it specifies " 500+ lines resolution " which is what I am shooting for when using my anamorphic adapter. Why would this spec be important if the data that is recorded by the camera's chips wouldn't be changed by the device that is transfering the recorded 0s and 1s data?

thanks again -

The lower resolution of the cheaper cam is due to the optics and chips that the camera has. It's not because of the recording heads (which is the only part of the camera that you need for transfering your DVX footage to your computer).

I appreciate your feedback on this. Thanks again.

- may the force be with you HorseFilms
