loss of quality when capturing...

I just shot some random footage with my dvx100b. I am using a Sony DCR-TRV27 to capture and capturing in sony vegas pro 8. As the footage is being captured its very noisey as well as when its imported to the vegas library. Should I be capturing using the HD or SDI mark instead of DV or what is the problem?

Capturing via Firewire is simply a data transfer from the camcorder to the computer, since there is no signal processing taking place, there should be no video quality loss whatsoever. What exactly are you seeing?

I found out i wasnt even using a firewire cable so i have that figured out.
i still hate vegas because i can never seem to get the video to render with good quality.
ive followed eugine or whoever that person is that made the guide to render and it still uploaded to vimeo with bad quality.
I'm going to check if my project settings are off and ill get back to you.

Sounds like you have quite a lot to learn. Nothing wrong with that, but I wouldn't go blaming Vegas if I were you. Vegas can output some VERY beautiful footage.

Go look at this little quickie test I did last week:

Vegas renders perfectly well. :) It's a question of your settings. When you export your next video, post exactly what your settings are -- every detail.

that was actually really well done :P

how long did the board actually take to put together since you had to move the camera to new positions every few seconds

Thank you i am happy how it turned out. it probably took about 30 minutes to do everything haha. i had just broke my board skating in the back of the shop and decided to test some footage.
