Loose Fitting Lenses

I just got some primes for my Letus Economy, older Nikkon lenses. They fit, but by no means are they tight. They're extremely loose. Any time I try to move the focus wheel or change the F stop the entire lens comes off. I actually have to use two hands, one to hold the adapter in place and the other to change the settings on the lens. Has anyone else faced something like this and found a solution. I imagine I could try and put gaffers tape on the Letus mount, but I just don't see that working very well for very long.\

Seth,
It might not be the lenses but rather the letus nikon mount, do any other nikons work properly?
Shane.

there are two places that the lens can mount, one of which will click and lock in place, the other one which does not. Try rotating it and then fitting it back on in a different spot.

Yeah, I had two zoom lenses that worked just fine. I tried the lenses again and just tried to screw them on to the mount a little tighter, which seems to be working. The other ones didn't need that, but if it's working I may be OK, thanks Shane...

This probably isn't related to the mount lock being loose, but a lot of old lenses screws get loose - noticeable when handling lens by itself. If so lightly tighten the screws at the rear of the lens BUT not the autofocus area which looks like a screw (-). Anyway :)

FWIW my Zeiss 50mm 1.4 fits tight and locks in place just fine on my LEX, which I ordered with their Nikon adapter ring. Both were acquired new, just recently.

I do recall Tim Naylor's older Nikons fitting quite loosely on his LEX at a test shoot we did a few months back though. I believe he reported on that here.

This happened to me when I tried the letus extreme with some older nikon lenses.

Just wrap a thin strip of gaff tape around the rear of the lens and the mount. Problem solved!

I think Tim's probably right, because my older Nikons fit a bit looser too, but if I give it slightly more of a turn it tightens it enough to where I can focus and adjust the f stop. I may try tightening the screws on the back of the lens where the mount is. fortunately these are Manual Focus lenses so I don't think I have to worry about an Auto-Focus "screw" but that's really good to know in case I do get one!
