Looooooong Scrolling Credits. HELP!

Pan and Crop?

Pan and Crop?

I'm not sure what you mean? Save them as what format? Past them into what size layout? I'm not sure how to do this.

Paste them into a tall, narrow image. Save as a PNG. Import the image into Vegas, then use the Pan/Crop tool to only show a "window" into the image (rather than squishing the thing to fit in a frame). Use keyframes to move that "window" over the image, revealing the credits.

Don't forget to change your keyframe interpolation to 0.0, it is set at 1.000 by defaualt, and unless you want your credits to ramp in speed you need to change it.

Ive tried this, but I can't get the damned thing NOT to be squished, and I've tried every option I could find. It always stayes squished.

I know there is a way to do it, just couldn't find the option.

Un-push the Lock Aspect Ratio button on the left side of the Pan/Crop window.

Set Stretch to Fill and Maintain Aspect Ration to Yes.

Set the Position Height and Width to 480 & 720.

(I may have the names slightly wrong...Vegas isn't sitting in front of me. But you'll see which I mean if snoop around a little in there.)

Well, hell, that was easy.

How did I manage to NOT come up with that.

THanks dude!

Vegas and Scrolling Text

Vegas and Scrolling Text

It sure seems that for such a good NLE would be able to do scrolling text in larger amounts then all that messing around with PhotoShop, Pan Crop, bla bla bla.
Seems there is a weekness in every program, but this funcation seems pretty basic. Have a window you can PASTE or type text into window and have it scroll.
I have used $99 dollar NLE's that had this feature.

Sehshh! I think I might just leave out the 300+ credits and call it good.

But thanks for all the help!

Don't give up BergMan! :costumed-smiley-047

You could build the credits as individual pages and dissolve between them (or dip to black between them, or whatever...).

It might be that they consider Vegas a pro tool and, generally speaking, pros would use a separate titling program.

Anyway, doing it outside Vegas gives you so many cool options. How about pictures of the folks to go along with their names?

Well...maybe not 300 of them. :)

Literally, shouldn't take you more than 5 minutes to do this, I don't see what the big deal is, I do it all the time, gives you more control over the final look, and only takes a few minutes to do it.

Not sure about Vegas but premiere pro has a create new colur bar/tone/counter and title bu right clicking in a bin.... where you can simply paste them and select scroll and time length. Vegas doesnt have this?

You can copy/paste something from Word into a Vegas Text box. I'm not sure if there's a length limit, but it's far longer than the little box you see on the screen (I just copied 18 Word pages of solid text with no problem).

Then, you keyframe the position of the text on the Placement tab to run from top to bottom.
