looking like film---cutting room set up-

i am a little confused.

I shot my projects @ F5.
I plan to have a master of my final cut(s) will finalize on dbeta and dvd.

How do I make my project look the most like film?
in terms of digitizing, sequence settings. I am a little confused of the things i must do to unlock the true 24progressive settings that will work on any TV or DVD player?

thanks in advance.

Re: looking like film---cutting room set up-

The purpose of the F5 setting is to provide a film look, not true progressive (that's F6). F5 lays to tape at 29.97 fps, or basically a normal NTSC framerate. It uses a 2:3:2:3 pulldown--the same as films do when they're transferred to VHS--to provide a look that resembles film, but it's not true progressive. If you use pulldown removal or the 24p-DVD setting on the footage you have, it'll more than likely screw with the video.
I think there might be a way to remap the time code in order to use pulldown removal using Cinema Tools, but that memory's really foggy. You'd definitely want to ask Barry or Jarred about that first.

F5 does shoot at 24fps and has the same look as film transferred to video and will work with all video players. (29.97 format)
There's nothing more to do except edit, color correct and lay to video tape/DVD.

The frame creates most of the illusion to film but lighting, camera moves, depth of field and color correction certainly have some impact. Play around with the color correction at this stage to get the look/stye of what you want.
