Looking for Windows 7 tweaks to run CS6 Production Premium

Hi

I guess I should sum up by saying that lots of people edit stuff that will fit on one or two 240GB SSD but may want to do multicam editing. I think that fits a bunch of people. Another bunch will say no thanks. Point is at about 5500MB/s read (and some will write that as well) SSD give RAID performance as a single unit - that's nice. Plus you can always RAID them as well.

Thanks for your reply. "work drive setup" in your post didn't specify video workstation, I didn't want to presume.

Well, the thread did originate under "NLE Software" and the OP specified "Adobe Production Premium", so I'm not sure where you got the idea to not presume that the discussion would revolved around editing video.

Harware RAID on your motherboard was not stated in your post, I didn't want to presume. Sorry if I should have ssumed more.

Are there actually recent motherboards that don't offer hardware RAID of some kind? Not the kind I'm interested in at least.

If any single drive causes loss of info on all "video" drives then a RAID of 2 drives has exactly mathematically twice the chance of failure. Same video stored on 2 single drives would lose 1/2 the video if 1 drive failed. Sorry, that's a fact not an opinion. Now for an opinion, others faced with that might go to RAID 5 where a drive failure can be recovered. Obviously you have reasons not to go there in your situation.

RAID 5 requires at least 3 drives, and then, because of the housekeeping involved, you do need a controller card to get any kind of decent speed. RAID 5 external units are pricey. Again, RAID 0 is not any more risky than a single drive in practice. Your single drive has just as much of a chance at going down as a single drive in a RAID 0 setup. You keep backups because of that.

Simple.
