Looking for the best deal on a DVX.

I hope this is an ok thread to ask but I'm shopping fo a DVX and it seems like there are a few places out there a little cheaper than the rest. For example www.bestpricecameras.com has it for $1879 plus 105 shipping after rebate. Everyone seems to have the same camera priced between $2400-3200. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

The internet is full of horror stories about Brooklyn camera stores screwing their customers...
They have a knack for this. Simply put, never order any electronics from Brooklyn.

The lowest price you will find on this camera from a store who will actually deliver is $3300...

I just went thru the purchase process, and there are definitely pitfalls. Basically, anything under $2800 I would definintely be dialing customer service to see if it is a U.S. model. If they say it's a foreign model, you'll need to understand Japanese to read the manual and the buttons. And there's also doubt as to the warranty (unless you want to ship to Osaka).

I made the mistake of going thru the online purchase process on one website and after making the purchase called them to verify the validity (they have to get verification from you on phone before making a foreign (grey market) sale). Once I found out it was a foreign model, I tried to tell them that I wanted the transaction cancelled, but was told that they needed the order to process before they could do so. Then, days later, was told that since the order had processed, I would be assessed a 7% of purchase price cancellation fee (for this one $130). Now that's customer no-service! We'll see how well the battle proceeds in credit-card-charge-dispute land.
