Looking for pneumatic dolly

I am looking to purchase a for pneumatic dolly like a JL FIsher or Chapman but as you know they only offer leases. I already have a doorway dolly with tracks, seat, bazooka but most cases it is not enough.

So, if you have any suggestions to JL FIsher or Chapman comparable dollies that can be purchased I would love to hear your suggestions.

Cheers,

The only thing that's remotely close that I'm aware of is the Colortran dolly and the Moviola dolly which is HUGE, you don't want one of those. The Colortran dollies pop up on eBay every once in a while and I believe they run on CO2 tanks (not sure how long one will go for), unlike Champan and Fisher dollies which need to be "bumped" typically at the beginning of a new setup.

FWIW, a couple years ago I rented a fisher 11 for something I was shooting and the rental house quoted me at $186k for replacement cost for insurance purposes.

Yep, if you have some patience, they show up on ebay. There is an interesting dolly on ebay now I've not seen before. It's not pneumatic and it is missing features, but it is dead cheap. I'm having issues copying links at the moment. Just search on 'Studio Cine Fearless'.

Thanks guys. We actually had a Colortran dolly and it was pain in the butt with the co2 tanks. I'll look for the Studio Cine Fearless as well.

I may have to end up going with a long term lease.

Cheers.

All the big key grips here are owner-operators of their (40+ foot trailer(s) full of) equipment and I think a few of them do long term leases directly with Chapman rather than going through a rental house. I have no idea what the price point for that kind of deal is but less than a rental house day play rate I'd imagine.

Ever thought of having one custom made?

Sometimes that can be better and also cheaper (in some cases half the price). I had some pneumatic machines made and most parts, motors, valves, lineair motors, joysticks are standard off the shelf. In one case the frame was also the tank for the compressed air on which it worked. And most important, you can add your own ideas.

anyway, succes!
