Looking for Pegasus feedback

Is there anyone using the Cinevate Pegasus system on a regular basis who'd care to offer their feedback on the product?

A search of the forum only turned up a post on someone unpacking their rig, no review of its use.

I'm considering one (probably the Heavy lifter) for use with my EX-1 and Blade (that's about 14 lbs without mattebox or monitor) but would like to find out if people are happy with them. There's very little chatter about it on the boards.

In particular,

1) Must I use two tripods as bases for the rails, or can I use a tripod and C-stand?

2) Does the heavy lifter have wheels, such that it can be used as a tabletop dolly? It looks to me like the heavy lifter can only be mounted to its rails.

3) Has anyone tried flying it on cables yet?

Thanks in advance.

Hmmm....No responses.

Should I interpret that to mean people found other solutions for their dolly needs?

i havent used it...but cinevate products are very well made and the customer service is very good. the users here can attest to that...they are also a site sponser.

Thanks. I was hoping for some hands-on opinions. I don't question the build quality per se; my questions pertain to whether it works as advertised on their website and whether it can be used in table top mode.

We've had the Pegasus Heavy Lifter for a few months now -- since back before the names changed. Can't emphasise enough what a great piece of kit this is.

Back in August, we used the Glidetrack HD for a TV commercial. It's solid and portable, but achieving a smooth motion often took multiple takes.

As soon as we got our hands on the Pegasus, we knew it was the system for us. It's so much smoother than the Glidetrack, solid, breaks down for easier transport but is really quick to re-assemble. Absolutely fantastic for getting a quick tracking shot in seconds. We usually stick it on lighting stands as they're a bit easier to cart around than multiple sets of sticks.

Table top was a bit of a problem as our old Vinten head is a bit too deep below the bowl so we've had to prop it up on a couple of DVCAM cases that we had to hand to give it enough clearance. Tape technology to the rescue! This is probably a non-issue now with the new Atlas system.

At any rate, we've been so impressed that along with our new purchase of a 7D and lenses, we've ordered Cinevate's DSLR shooting kit, Matte Box and Follow Focus. Hopefully, I'll find the time to post a review of those and some BTS photos...
