If anyone has a short Giallo screenplay and would like to see it made pm me
I'll give you writers credit and a DVD

From the giallo I've seen It seems more focused on presenting a concept, rather than a story. Maybe I've watched the wrong stuff, but I've just not seen a solid story in Giallo as much as a weird concept, atmosphere, that creates a dark fantasy setting

I dig the giallo genre. I can't say I've seen a lot of really good ones, but there are definitely some classics. I really liked Lucio Fulci's "Don't Torture a Duckling."

I think Dario Argento is wonderfully stylized in his direction. But, IMHO, usually the scripts he writes are not very good. I prefer to see him direct others' writings.

That being said, there is a Lebanese film maker, Antoine Waked, you should check out. I saw his short film, "Giallo," and thought it was pretty good! Try to contact the guy and see what he's up to. I contacted him a few years ago and we had a nice conversation.

They're sort of sexy violent pulp fiction horror movies, Italian, derived from a literary genre by the same name.

just without that annoying story element and character arc. Good example of what I'm taking about is cemetery man. Good visuals mixed in a story that isnt there.

Thus my detestment of Giallo, visuals are usually pretty damn good, but they never have a real ****ing story. being someone who loves a good story and character development, it is not my sub genre.

Would I seem like a complete n00b if asked WTF "Giallo" was as a genre, or whatever the heck we're talking about here? :)

"Giallo" is an Italian word meaning "yellow." They're more like violent and sexy mystery movies. Pulpy, sexy. Very visual. There can be a horror element, I guess. It stems originally from yellow paperbacks.

While many giallos are not very good, they are defintiely some VERY good stories that have been told via giallo.
