Looking for Collage Suggestions

Full Sail University ( http://www.fullsail.edu ) offers a range of highly focused fast track degree programs for those in a hurry. Located in Winter Park Fla. ( think Orlando - Disney World - etc.).

Toured their facility last year and came away impressed. Worth a look.

Interlochen Arts Academy, that's kinda funny. A girl I was seeing for a bit graduated from there...she wasn't a very good person. Small world I guess.

Though, I digress. Listen, you listed out a lot of requirements, and slammed every BFA and general BA program out there because they aren't worth your time. I suggest, you don't go to college. Because no matter where you go you will have problems with equipment, problems with the courses, too much theory here, can't touch a camera till third year there. You have to make compromises. Do you want to go to a school with an amazing network but most of the professors are from an experimental background? What if the school doesn't have 35mm? Will 16mm suffice? What if they don't have digital cinema systems? Does it make it a bad school? I'd hazard to say "no".

College is a wake-up call. It aligns your ego. It shows you that you aren't the best person out there. And it makes you push yourself to reach new heights as a filmmaker. It's also fun...sometimes.

Look for a place that will let you play with cameras your first year. Protip: NYU is not one of those places. Look for a place with Alumni who have made it. I got an internship at a major studio because of my network while everyone else was working with tiny prod-cos. Look for a place with an LA program or an LA campus (that's where all the big networking happens). That's my advice. Or, if that fails. A gluestick and a few magazines will certainly take you places. :)
