Looking for a writer

Hi,
Basically I'll stop from the top. Not that theres much to explain. I am in need of a writer for a small film that I want to shoot over the winter season and early spring. Its a small epic, medieval style film. Hopefully if all goes well I would like to enter it unofficially for the Drama Fest.

So back to the main point. I am wondering if anybody knows anyone, or any links to places where i could hire a writer. The script would be short, around 6-10 pages.

6-10 pages?
So your film is about 3 minutes long?

Carson, scripts don't necessarily have to follow the 1 page = 1 min rule. And it is closer on average to one min than it is to 30seconds.

I have a 17 Page short that has a runtime of ~15min (still in production)

There is no set ratio for pages to min. A page can be all action and take a few min or just be dialog and take all of twenty seconds.

I'm sure you can find someone to help write for you Kiki, if you are running out of options my scedual clears a little in mid-december.

Still writing my feature, two commericals, and my drama fest entry.

No, but try sending in 400 pages to a production company and telling them it's a 96 minute long movie.

Action isn't written into a reading script, just a filming script.

Ki-Ki -- Do you already have a story/idea that needs to be scripted, or would this be starting from scratch?

"Action isn't written into a reading script, just a filming script."

That's pretty misleading, if not altogether untrue.

Ki-Ki, there a number of websites listed in the stickies and other threads that can point you in the right direction. Also, there are some good writer's here. Good luck.

I was suprised that I got any replies to this. So, thanks for the kind feedback.

Oh no. The film is meant to be 6 minutes long, give or take a few seconds. I dont really know why I was thinking 6-10 minutes. Probably because of the one minute rule. Though at the same time alot of the dialogue could perhaps be told with actions. So I'm really not sure. I'm not an expert writer, but I can't imagine it being any longer than 15 pages thats for sure.

Ki-Ki -- Do you already have a story/idea that needs to be scripted, or would this be starting from scratch?

Well I have some sort of concept inspired from the Drama Fest rules. For example there has to be an "Eric" or "Erica" in the film. So I was thinking that somehow there was a "Damsel In Distress" situation perhaps. [This all as an example]

The only - real - concept that I have got is just shots in my head really. I know i want to end it on certain shot which counts as a cliffhanger. Where the last of the fighters head out into the amarda of men, or creatures and we see a long shot of the imposible fight ahead of them. Sort of cliffhanger because it looks like 5 men v 2000 creatures, that sort of style.

In the way of story. None at all except the somewhat "Battle" and character of "Erica" which is constantly inspiring me with new ideas.

Thanks, and good luck to you Mattykins .

Go do donedealpro.com and check the forum section. There are quite a few
writers who'd love to write a feature/short and have it produced.

Thanks Charli,
I ended up doing a few forum scouting occasions, posting, seeing if one person was interested. Then if they werent another, etc. Now at the end of it. Like one week on. I'm still getting new emails from people saying:

"Do you still need a writer?"

I guess you can only have it one way or the other.

Big thanks goes out to everyone who posted !

I'd love the opportunity

I'd love the opportunity

I would like the opportunity to work with you on this.

Do you have a writer already?

Do you have the story already in mind, or need ideas as well?

PM me!!
