Looking for a very strong durable wired lav for outdoor use. Some Extreme.

Going to do some outdoor shooting, some extreme stuff, and would like a wired lav with a strong durable cable and connection. It can have xlr or 3.5
Looking at the SmartLav+ for the money and in reviews they say it is a great improvement to the smartlav. That way I can connect it to my phone.
But I do have the Zoom H5 so I can use a XLR input if needed.
I will use this in the outdoors of Minnesota so a mic and cable that can hold up in the elements.
Thanks for any suggestions.

thanks for the info. I have some nice Rode Lav mics, but would rather take a cheaper price lav into extreme conditions.
Trying to read up of the Rode smartlav+ reviews, but most people got turned away from the smartlav first edition.

That was an awesome link you sent me. Thanks!

Countryman EMW, very durable, high moisture resistance, sounds decent, not too expensive at around $170 depending on termination.

Plenty of cheaper units out there, but the reliability in extremes might become an issue, the EMW is pretty bullet proof.

About the only mic lower priced than the RODE lav range ($200-250) .. and still sound decent are the OSTs. I don't think the TL40 would hold up wet. The 801/802 are similar to Trams.

I purchased an OST 801 about an hour ago, should have it by the end of the week. $159 shipped with XLR power supply. tieclip and windscreen. Reason for buying: My Sony ECM50 (a prehistoric but bulletproof lav with an element the size of a pencil) finally crapped out after 25 years. Actually it still works if you fiddle with the wire, but that doesn't impress clients too much. So if you can solder and want a REALLY cheap lav....
