looking for a good HD broadcast monitor for HVX200

I currently own a Sony Multiformat PVM 14L5 bradcast monitor.

My problem is that it does not display my HVX200 720p footage as accurately as when I see the footage in Final Cut Pro. In FCP I get a truly 16x9 frame.

But on my PVM monitor the image is not really 16x9. It's not 4x3. But its not exactly 16x9 either. Perhaps because the monitor screen size is 4x3.

What kind of monitor would I need to get to see a truly 16x9 image?

Thanks very much in advance,

- Nicholas

I have been pretty happy with one of these: Panasonic BT-LH1700W 17-Inch Widescreen HD/SD LCD Video Monitor with Built-In SDI . . . check B&H or elsewhere, there is a $250 rebate going on.

An Apple 23" Cinema Display set up as a second monitor with a Matrox MXO is a great, cost-effective solution. Altogether it's only about $1900, which is a little more than half the price of the BT-LH1700W even after the rebate. The Panasonic has other features, the vectorscope certainly being one of them, that may still justify the cost, but I'd recommend taking a good look at the ACD/Matrox combo. I got one recently and love it.

I just checked by the way and B&H's rebate on the BT-LH1700W is now $500 off the list of $4K.

I'll second and third the MXO and ACD combination. It does a phenomenal job.

If I were buying an SDI monitor, it would definitely be the LH1700 since it doubles so nicely as a field monitor. BTW, B&H price is $2850 less $250 rebate. Were you thinking of the LH2600?

Oops! Yep... I found a B&H page using their search and missed the fact that it came up with the 2600 higher on the list than the 1700.

drengenthai: Does anyone have any idea about this, i'd like to know if the BT-LH1700W could show the wave form from RGB inputs YPbPr?, or is it just composite? or SDI only?
