I'm looking for one of you to be the editor of the book I'm writing next year. It's narrative nonfiction about the "college experience." There's a big debate going on right now about the economic and educational value of college, but what's rarely discussed is the personal growth or social value. And as somebody college-aged who isn't attending college, that's what I hear the most about. People understand my decision not to go financially, but they always bring up the "college experience" I'm missing out on.
So my plan is to travel around to 10-15 colleges, stay with a student at each of them for at least a week, attempting to discover what the college experience really means... if four years at university is truly invaluable.
I'm looking for a filmmaker because we already have the same storytelling vocabulary. I would send you my field notes at the end of every day, and we'd work together on telling the story. Ideally you are somebody who is well-read and endlessly curious about people, social structures, psychology, etc.
Email me if you want to talk.
