Hey everyone,
Now I know all about the awesome composer thread over in the hero-fest section of the site but I really feel compelled to post a call out instead of messaging all of those composers for a few reasons. This project is going to take a special person as it will definately take longer than any hero fest soundtrack and I'm not offering any money. I know that alot of talented composers are out there so if you're one of them check this out and see if its right for you.
I'm in the production stage of my latest project which is a feature titled "Immersion." I dont want to go into any relationship with a composer based on any sort of lie so I'm going to be perfectly honest about the project. For starters I'm still in highschool and the movie has a budget that only alots for food and tapes so its not really a full blown production. I'm a good ways through shooting right now and shooting should be totally finished by June 4th. The movie isnt turning out great but its not horrible either, I'm definately hoping it can get some festival play.
I originally had thought I would have two of my music oriented friends do the score and I'd help them out. I still might do that but they are good musicians and write music but arent really film composers. I figured I'd let some of the composers here take a shot if they were interested, I'm having my friend score two of the rough scenes to see how he does and I'd like it if some of the composers here would try too. I will eventually choose what is right for the project but I'd like some options for sure.
One scene is primarily dialogue while the other has some action in it but also has really bad acting. For the first scene I want to see how you can bring out the emotions with some simple soundtrack under the dialogue and for the second one I want to see how well you can mask some of the bad acting by adding mood. The project would definately be a challenge and would also allow for some creative stuff because it has alot of creepy/jumpy montage type stuff in it and id like some interesting and maybe even bizarre music.
Thanks for listening let me know if you'd like to try your hand at these scenes and maybe we could work together.
Chris
