Looking for a Clean Key

Hi all - trying to create a utility identifier (lower 3rd) clip with a clean key that I can drop over any shot. I have a graphic (JPEG) with text overlayed and a color clip cropped to size as bg for names to be added later. There is a drop shadow on the color clip.
I just can't seem to get a really clean key. Tried compositing over black and Luma keying the black away, over green and Blue/Green Keying, Matte Chokers, Garbage Mattes, Spill Suppressor etc and I can't keep the drop shadow, the object is fringed with the bg that I am trying to eliminate. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!
 
Save it as something other than JPEG, like TIFF. That way the alpha channel is already in the image.

You'll never get a clean key with a high loss compression like JPEG, even ignoring the obvious issue of not including alpha layers. Drop shadow especially makes it impossible.
