Ok, I have a Bogen 503 for my HMC-150. Love it, would buy another.

But I need some type of head with a nice handle that can support a Canon Vixia or HMC-150.
Not worried about making smooth pans like the 503, just want to hold the camera and move a little.
This will go on a slider or crane. It will also get bumped around because it will be used outdoors a lot.
Anything on ebay or amazon under a 100 dollars you recommend. Would love something under 50$.

Otherwise I will get a Manfrotto 128LP Micro Fluid Head or Bogen 3126.
I have the Bogen 3126, and it is not bad, it takes a beating and does what I need it to do.
But does not offer a quick release.
Just checking to see if there are any other choices.

Hi, I did a search on this in youtube and also read a few reviews. Looks like this is what I am looking for. for about 36$, I can take this in the woods or any place outdoors, and not have to worry to much. Pretty good deal. Problem solved, I will put the order in today for one.
Thanks again.

Not sure what you consider cheap, but I use the Manfrotto 701 for just this purpose. It is a true fluid head and for the size-price works well. Also interchanges plates with your 503. If the velbon doesn't work out, the 701 could be your next option.

Hi, I meant cheap in price. Not cheap in material. I hope this 36$ head works out, and I will let you know. It is worth a try for that money.

I have both the 701 and the Velbon had and dollar for dollar i like the Velbon WAY better. My Velbon is about 6 years old I think (hard to say for sure) and its going strong. The worst thing that has happened to it is that the QR plate lock down broke but it had the plate on it so i added a QR that matches the 701 and i now swaps one plate between both sets of sticks. Both are great investments.

I have worked with the Weifeng 717 and its build quality felt like the Manfrott 701. both all metal, both very sturdy. I liked the action of the 717 a bit better but overall im happy with my 704.
