looking for a Barrett .50 Cal M107 prop gun.

Good to hear Matt. In my student film days, I did some stupid things with filming and guns, lucky I didn't get anyone killed. I am now on the straight and narrow, if we are using any guns (one of my latest show concepts is actually really focused specifically on guns and shooting), I have my guy there with the class 3 license and decades of experience.

Dan

I hear that. I suppose you could say I am still in my "student film" days. I've been on sets where there has been stupid airsoft crap pulled. Lucky we didn't have a real swat team show up. I'd like to think I am a step above a typical student film. Haha.

Doc, where are you located? I've seen your posting around about doing stunts and armoring, pretty cool.

I once had a roommate who pulled an airsoft M4 without the orange tip on me as I walked in the door... I just about crapped myself. Once he told me the "joke" (I had no clue it wasn't real until he pulled the magazine), I just about beat the crap out of him. The rest of the night, him and a buddy were running around the apartment building... in full view of several other buildings... taking turns shooting at each other, even after I pointed out that someone was going to mistake that for the real thing and call the cops.. I'm still surprised a SWAT team didn't show up

I had a classmate who aimed to shoot himself a sort of Vietnam War epic, filmed in a public park, with actors toting real hunting rifles and shotguns. And the police were called.

Idiot.

Good!---they deserve it. Firearms and people who don't think are a bad combination.
About the only thing dumber I can think of was back in the late 70s or early 80s a well known actor on the set of a soap opera put a 44 magnum blank to his head and pulled the trigger. Don't recall his name but I do recall reading that the blast created an entry wound the size of a half dollar and the cardboard plug penetrated half way through his brain. Too bad somebody didn't clue him in before he pulled that stunt.

I think I can go one better. Gun range I used to frequent had a negligent death a few years ago. Seems some dude brought in his lady friend to teach her how to shoot. She had never fired a gun before. After putting some rounds through a .22 first, he thought it would be brilliantly funny to give her a .44 Mag without preparing her for how powerful it was. She shot one round, and the shock, fright, and recoil caused her to swing her hands up over and behind her head with her finger still on the trigger, where she flinched and fired again. Idiot boyfriend was standing right behind her. Idiot boyfriend wasn't standing, or doing much of anything, after that.

Guns aren't toys and need to be respected for what they can do. God, I wish more people would figure that out. Poor woman was probably messed up in the head for life after that.

Just on a whim I did a quick search for that real-guns-in-the-park idjit classmate of mine...and discovered that he's here in Los Angeles, teaching gymnastics.

Well, we all knew he didn't have a future in the entertainment business.

ya know I grew up around weapons, and everyone seems scared shitless of them now a days, all this talk and regulation is is the gov making us afraid of the very thing we are entitled to bare in the Constitution. Just another form of control. How many people were accidentally shot 50 years ago ver today. How come people today can't just pick up a gun and not either **** themselves, shoot themselves or shoot their hunting partner in the face. Gun safety is really not that involved people, a little bit of common sense a lot of respect for the fact you are holding something that has the potential to kill, and some backbone and your all set. How come no ones scared of getting killed by there car?

But, they're perfect for home defense!

As in, needing to defend yourself when attacked by a home.

or if you need to shoot the gopher that lives in your brothers front yard from your front yard........1 or 2 miles away haha
