Looking at new laptops, none have firewire any more?

So I am looking to upgrade my laptop. It seems none of the new PC's have Firewire anymore.

Does anyone have recommendations for a nice laptop with Firewire, or do you have to add a PCMCIA Firewire card?

Thanks

I just went to Sony's website. All I can find is USB and a ExpressCard® /34 slot.

edit: I found it. They now call Firewire "i-link"

Just bought a new Lenovo W510, it has a 4-pin firewire port.

I don't think anybody in the Windows world calls it "firewire", that's an Apple trademark. Sony calls it "i-link" and I think everyone else just calls it IEEE-1394 or "1394".

I think most of the Sonys should have i.link ports, and there are other Lenovos that have it, like the 13.3" IdeaPad U330

Hey gang, haven't posted in a long while. But of course, when I need technology help, where do I go? DVXUSER of course.

Rather than start a new thread, I'm bringing back this one because it's relevant to my issue. I cannot for the life of me find a non-MAC laptop that has a firewire port. Reasonably priced that is (under 1K)...I have to upload DVX100A footage. I need a new laptop. I would like to upload this footage to said new laptop.

If anyone knows of any laptop out there (I've Googled, scoured Amazon, Newegg, etc.) that has either a firewire, i.link, or even an ExpressCard slot that I can hook an adapter up to, please post a link. It's crazy that in this day and age that I can't find an easy solution to get my DVX footage uploaded (Desktop is not an option.) This has been a major headache.

I've read on another thread about a TWO adapter solution that works as follows: Adapter 1 has usb jack on one end, ExpressCard slot on the other. Hook that up to your laptop. Adapter 2 has ExpressCard slot plug on one end and firewire port on the other. Hook that up to Adapter 1. Use a double sided firewire cable to hook Adapter 2 to DVX100A firewire. Proceed to capture. However, that whole scenario screams DVX-firewire-port-burnout.

Anyone have any leads on the laptop I'm looking for?? Or has anyone tried said dual/adapter workaround?

Based on Barry's suggestions and experience, I've looked into Sony and Lenovo with little luck.

Please let me know,
Thanks.
Rick
