Look what I added to my list.... : )

Coffee,

I thought you already had a tripod and head for you camera. I thought you were just looking for a tripod for your jib?

Anyway, I have the 503 head and love it.

Chris

Well, I had a tripod but it was a cheapy one that I bought a while back and wasn't happy with. I don't intend to use this one for the crane but I'm going to try it out to see if the tipod (without the head) can support the weight. I spoke with the guy at B&H and he was extremely informative about damn near everything relative to camera equipment and when I asked him about the weight of a 30 pound crane plus counter weight he said that it'll hold the weight just as long as I don't extend the legs. lol, he sat on the tripod to prove his point... So I'll give it a shot tonight to see if it feels sturdy.

That would have majorly sucked if the tripod had failed.....BTW that must have been really uncomfortable for him. I have the 503 head too, and agree that it's an excellent piece of equipment.

I have no idea if this is any good at all, but I include it for completness--carbon fiber legs, holds 77 lbs., and usually sells for l under a hundred, plus (an over-inflated) s/h cost. They are famous for suspiciously low prices on pretty good knock-off products. I have ordered from them in the past (over eBay) and have been pleased--but I'd get an opinion from someone who has purchased these legs.

I've been wondering about this one for a while now.

Can anyone share any experience with these?
