Where can I find the best/most reliable prices for the DVX?

I'm starting a video production company, I've been out of the film/video business for nearly ten years, so with everything digital I feel like I am starting from scatch.

I know that I want the DVX (I would love the 200,
but the (B) or even the (A) may be all that I can afford at this moment)
I've got a wife and kids to support now, so I can't make too many expensive mistakes, and I could really use a little experienced advise to get off in the right direction.

Here's a few of my thoughts/questions:

Where would you suggest looking for the best bang for my buck?

Should I have anything included with my initial camera purchace?
(or is everything included in the kits just a bunch of future closet junk?)

What would you recommend to be the most useful accessories to go with
the camera for mostly documentary style shooting?

I will probably have many shoots that I will need more than one camera,
should I get a second cheaper camera, or is that really a bad idea to mix
quality? (I'm trying to keep costs down without compromising too much)

I know that I have alot of questions, but I am very excited/nervous about leaving a secure family business, and finally having the guts to following my passion in life.

Any help on the above questions,
or anything else you can think of would be greatly appriciated!

Thank You & Keep it Reel!
Todd

If I may ask, why are you starting a new production company with SD equipment when everything is going to HD / HDV. It's more expensive but most everything is going in that direction at leat here in Los Angeles. We have 3 shows in production right now for network and all of them are in HD. Further, the vast majority if the indies and the rentals are HD-based instead of SD. I certainly don't mean this post to be judgemental as we all are here, irrespective of experience level, to help other members so I just thought I'd give to the benefit of my experience at least in LA.

Thanx for your reply,
I have been battling over the "to go HD or to not go HD" dilema alot when I first thought about starting this phase of my life.
The small town that I am living in is still upgading their video viewing from
VHS to DVD, and HD is kind of a ways off from this area.

I am trying to not overextend myself initially, and I thought I would just go
with the standand DVX.

The primary reason that I am starting up this company is to capture the lifestories of the thousands of War Veterans that are being housed in a Wisconsin Veterans Home in a neighboring town. I really hate to think about all of the interesting lifestories that are being buried everyday. (Along the way, I also thought that I would get some interesting documentary footage & some novel screenplay ideas)

So in answer to your reply, the main reason that I am looking at just the DVX cameras...is cost! And I am hoping to save a quite a bit with this move, I was just looking for some basic advise about the most useful accessories to go along with the camera (ie: quick charger, extended life batteries, zoom kit, etc)

When I do move out of this hick town that I am living in, I will make sure that I am up to speed with the rest you people in the real video world.

Thanx again for your advise & concern,

That "Todd" Guy!
