Bombs explode in London, casualties still being counted, thoughts and prayers with the victims and families

Tony Blair just said "It's reasonably clear there have been a series of terrorist attacks in London." Called the attacks dreadful and barbaric.

"It's important that those engaged in terrorism realise that our determination to defend our values and our way of life is greater than their determination to cause death and descrution to innocent people in a desire to impose extremism on the world."

He's going to leave the G-8 summit and return to London.

not gonna happen, that's how they operate and what they believe.

I feel for the people of London. My favorite city on earth.

Got a bit worried earlier, as my brother was taking the train right across London this morning... right through several of the stations targeted. I tried to ring his mobile but got answerphone which was a bit worrying, as he always has it on. Finally managed to get hold of him though and luckily he got through early this morning and avoided it all!

These attacks annoy me so much, as the have the opposite effect to what the terrorists should be trying to do! It just turns everyone against them! Mankind has lost his violent instincts yet I guess!

mmm looks like you and your tank should drive down there and kick some ass :)

I know I haven't lost my violent instincts, but I can control them and use logic. How stupid are these people! All they seem to want is to piss off democratic cultures.

If they targeted Bush and Blair, or something of relevance, at last I could understand their reasoning, but why blow up innocent people? I can't really explain my opinion briefly, but you get the idea.

The picture is me by a Sherman in Normandy for the 60th anniversary of D-day last year BTW.

This goes to show the littlw world I live in; at least this morning. I slept in till 9:30; dragged my ass into work; processed a bunch of applicants for criminal screens; did my usual dvx surf and replies; processed more applicants and then this post makes me goto cnn.com.....

We have several members (active) in London and UK; be careful guys/gals.

****ing terrorist ****ing cocksuckers.

My heart and prayers go out for the people of Britain.

Naaah. That’s a Sherman. They win by numbers, not quality . . .

Anyone wanna come with me then...?

"Tommy Cookers" as the Nazis called them.

Precisely my way of thinking. I can respect an enemy that targets and sucessfully destroys meaningful targets. Anyone can blow up a bunch of people in a bus. Damn bastard terrorists.

That right there is the difference between a terrorist and a freedom fighter. If these people actually want to make an impact other than to piss off the west they will need to figure out the difference.

My thoughts and deepest sympathies to the British.

Just spoke to my brother. He missed the King's Cross explosion by 6 minutes. My mates dad was on the bus behind the one that blew up too.

My parents had a similar experience in Turkey when Terrorists attacked the airport terminal with grenades just as they were boarding the plane.

I guess a miss is as good as a mile though!

Ok, one question - the UK has some 2 million cameras online do you think they got footage of them?

I suspect they could use some kind of profiling software to recognize known suspected cell members, but everyone entering the subway with a package, parcell or bag seems like a tall order to me. If they have those kind of rescourses though, you can bet they'll be up burning the midnight oil going over all the data following a thing like this! Scotland Yard and Interpol are surely forces to be reckoned with.
