This is for a little press i'm running with some friends. do you think the doll is covering the name too much? could you read it right away? patchwork comics is the name. hmm. i dig it but still on the fence.

I don't think it's covering up too much, but I do think maybe you should put it on the right side instead of the left. Since it's on the left I ended up sort of reading the word backwards (starting with "work"). If it's on the right then at least people will read the word from left to right and as a result I think they'll recognize the word more easily.

Just a thought.

excellent suggestion, i'm on it!

So that's an illustrator's pencil that he's holding? Who is the intended market to be influenced by this logo? General public or other artists?

Overall I like the logo... if you want some input or possible suggestions then one which popped into my head was to have some part of the logo "patched" on... like a quilt... perhaps have patch and work as two separate pieces sewn together to make patchwork... you could have the stitches stand out or be subtle with color... or even have just the M in comics as a patch... basically the name patchwork makes me think of a quilt... but it doesn't have to look "grandma" just sewn rough like your little guy is.

I could even see the little guy being the one sewing on the patch... he could have a few of the illustrator pencils sticking out of a back pocket, like he put 'em there while he patches up (finishes) the logo. Then the man can be placed in front of, or behind, the wording at your discretion.

It's fine as is... but the reason I'm giving the flow here is 'cause this is what I want from posters when I put up a logo (here soon)... because this is a cool way to get free advice... that doesn't mean you have to take it... but logo input has been in the Cafe' several times now and I hope people will input on mine when the time comes.

My opinions as a potential consumer :) ...

I like the dummy's drawing style, and I like the font and the lettering. I don't particularly like the mix of colours there, and I do agree that while the dummy looks cool, it somehow distracts from the name.

Overall, though, its a nice logo.
