LOGO Problems

Hey guys,

I am having a serious problem with this logo that I created (to play at the beginning of each film I do). I create the title in Premiere 1.5 and Photoshop and applied a gaussian blur and fade effect to it. Everything rendered fine and the quality and size is perfect. The only problem; there is a white outline surrounding the logo (which SHOULD be there) and it keeps doing this really fast annoying flicker. I am using a 24p, 4:3, 48h timeline. Any help would REALLY be appreciated!

Perhaps the "white outline" is above the upper luminance limits, try reducing its brightness slightly and see if that eliminates the flicker in your rendered output.

If the outline is part of the logo that was created in Photoshop, just go back into Photoshop and change it there. Then re-import it into Premier and then render it out to test the theory.

Did you at least look at the levels of the logo's outline in Photoshop? If they are hot, I would fix them there, not in Premier.

Can you post or provide a link to the logo file?

If you eliminate the blur does the rendered output still exhibit the flickering?

Is there any motion in the flickering part of the output?

If I eliminate the blur, the outline still flickers back and forth. I don't know if the logo is 'hot'... I can send it to you if you give me an email address :).

P.S. I tried reducing the opacity some to see if that would help but it didn't. During the motion (blur and fade effect) the logo does not flicker at all. It isn't until it is completely faded up that there is a problem.

Just curious how think the white outline is? It it's only one or two pixels wide, that may be the problem. Lose the white edge or make it thicker. Just a thought.

The line is the thinnest that it could possibly be (so I'm guessing one pixel). Let me try making it thicker and see if that helps.

My money is on the fact that your boarder is only 1 pixel wide - thus causing the flicker.
Of course I'm not a gambling man............

I'm almost positive that your right. Sort of sucks though, being limited by what will realistically display.

Easy solution for that one! Select the track that contains the photoshop layer, right-click on your text element select "Field Options..." then on the select options in this window select "Flicker removal". Voila, problem solved :)

aaah haa - we all learn something new. I'll have to give that a try next time I run into this problem. I've had it before and just did what I recommended above, removing the border or making it thicker.
