speaking of pee wee...here I AM!

umm, sorry dave. i dont like either of these. they are clunky and hard to read. not to mention if you decide to go white type on black background...

Sorry, but I think both of those are awful. The mixed fonts, beveled type, drop shadows, and textures make them difficult to read and amateurish. The object in the middle of the second logo looks like a....well, do I have to spell it out? I like the name Obsidian Productions, any reason you need it to be Obsidian 1 Productions? Find a designer to do your logo and you'll be much better off. I hope I'm not coming off as harsh, just trying to be helpful.

Very helpful. Obsidian Prod, was taken, so we are Obsidian One Productions... I originally wanted all the letters to look like they are made from obsidian stone, but havent' figured a way to do it convincingly yet..

You can maybe try asking Bluespider to do one? I haven't seen him on lately.. i too am not feeling it.

With all due respect....

Obsidian is already taken? Why not just call it "Paramount 1" or "Dimension X" or Mirimax B"?

Get my drift? Come on Greeches! Do your own thing!

IMHO as always.

Greeches,

You know I love you kinda like a creepy little brother who chooses to live in a swampy brackish backwood shack, but I have to tell you that both the logo and name aren't doing it for me either.

This is based solely on the really incredible experimental stuff you are constantly submitting. I don't have any great suggestions... but I don't think the name does your talent justice.

Okay, I'm getting misty over here...

If Obsidian Productions is already taken and trademarked, then Obsidian 1 Productions clearly infringes on the mark because of the obvious potential to get the two companies confused. I agree with John, work on something unique for your name.

hmmm... The word Obsidian is so powerful with its rich history with humans. The stone of stones for ancient hominids.... What about A Hominid Picture?:cheesy:

I'm not sure that Obsidian Productions is Trademarked, I googled it and saw another Company listed, but haven't investigated it fully.

Thanks for all the feedback!!

I like Hominid...it has an interesting ring to it.

It is, in fact, trademarked...you can see the trademark/copyright info here: http://www.nmstudios.com/asunder/terms_conditions.htm

If it doesn't have the ® attached to it (at least in the first instance of each use) it is not likely a registered trademark. The TM is a poorman's use mark on a device, name or associated tangible product. The SM is a use mark strictly for services.

http://www.mycorporation.com/tminfo/faq.htm

The common-law TM device might be used until the formal registration request goes through the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). The TM merely indicates an entities effort to protect an intellectual property - it doesn't guarantee it. Other businesses and individuals can use the same mark at their own risk. The onus is on the markholder to pursue cases of infringement.

As an example: I have used Monumental Pictures Corporation since 1992 - with branded proof-of-use and business licenses since that time in the state of California. While MPC carries a TM, we did not register the mark with USPTO at the time due to legal costs. Now, another entity (about which I will keep myriad comments to myself) has purchased the URL www.monumentalpictures.com and is showing use by extension. Because both companies are in entertainment development, it is likely that one would be forced (through litigation) to abandon their use of the mark - likely the one that is able to show earliest and consistent use.

Registering and protecting your marks is an expensive part of doing business - it will be interesting to see how our own case develops!
