what is an effective way to blur out logos on t shirts or whatever.
right now im just creating a collor matt and cropping it to size and animating it. but how would you just blur out a selection on an image and create a motion path for it to follow?
you need three tracks.
original trak goes on v1.
on v2, you create a shape, using the same popup in the bottom right of the viewer that you use to make titles, slug, whatever. pick an oval, circle, whatever will work. use the "control" tab to set the size of the shape.
now duplicate the clip from v1 and put it onto v3. apply a blur filter to v3, making it as blurry as you need it to be to obscure logos, faces, whatever. right click the v3 clip and change its composite mode to travel matte-luma.
that's pretty much it. the bummer is you have to manually keyframe the motion of the blur the same way you were animating your colored shape. because fcp doesn't have motion tracking. if you need to do a lot of this and don't have the time for manually animating the blur, the solution will set you back $50. here it is: http://www.lyric.com/fcp-plugins/tracking.htm
i haven't used this, but i'll probably buy it the next time i need to do anything involving motion tracking. the "pin blur" filter does exactly what you're talking about.
the thing i like about my cheesier, slower, version is i can use any filter i want, like the "mosaic" filter which comes with the freeware TMTS filter package, to get that pixelated, mosaic type look you also see on cop shows.
thats funny...
cause i stayed up til 5am last night trying to figure this out. cause i got a gig doing this stuff today . and i was just like ooo sure yeah i can do that.
i ended up figuring it out. and i figured out the exact same process you just described. thanks though.
and how does the plug it in make it that much easier. wouldnt you still need to set key points for the shape to follow?
